Chapter Fifteen

We pulled up outside the bridal shop, minutes before Freya’s appointment. We still hadn’t spoken, and it was killing me. She opened her car door and slipped out, before she walked away I opened my window and bent my head down.

“I’m sorry, baby,” I grovelled. She leant down, her glasses pushed on top of her head as she smirked at me.

“Thank you for the lift, loved Luther by the way,” she said before turning on her heel and walking into the bridal shop. Oh touché Miss Greene. Little minx. I was annoyed at how I reacted, but I didn’t like the way he literally drooled over her.

I wanted to get home, Louis still hadn’t called me back, the prick. I needed to talk to someone, anyone. I floored the car most of the way home until I pulled into the penthouse carpark, slamming the door as I left.

I sulked my way into my lift and tapped my fingers impatiently on the steel handrail. I sighed in relief when the doors pinged opened.

“Julia!” I shouted out, searching the kitchen and the hallway. I rolled my eyes when she didn’t respond. Just when I was about to call my mum, I saw James walking round the corner and into the kitchen.

“James!” I called out. I felt like I was pacing around, panicked, looking for someone to pour my heart out too.

“Hey, Carter, all okay boss?” he asked as he poured a glass of tap water. “Want one?” he saidI shook my head at him.

“No, no thanks.” I kept my eyes on him, counting to five in my head before talking again. “Are you free for a chat?” I asked him, not wanting to keep him from his job.

“Of course, everything okay?” he asked as he sat on the stool under the breakfast bar, his eyes boring into mine.

“I don’t know. I am so confused, and I have no one to talk to about it.” I huffed. James just blew his cheeks out and widened his eyes.

“Man, what’s happened to you?” James then laughed while he waited for my response.

“This girl is getting into my fucking head. I literally went on one date, fucked her and now I am obsessed with her. I don’t want anyone going near her, I don’t want to go near anyone but her! I feel like calling up the girls I see and terminating them. Honestly, I just don’t know what to do. Then we had a shitty row because we bumped into someone she had a measly date with and it fucked me off even more knowing that he has taken her out and potentially touched her, even though she said she hadn’t done anything with him. It is driving me insane.” I groaned as I put my head into my hands, trying to calm the thumping that was going on. I could feel the blood pumping through my veins.

“Woah, okay... that was a lot to take in.” James smirked, twirling his glass round on the worktop.
